Zoom Tips & Tricks

These tips are mostly for our students who take only online lessons, BUT before you ignore this info completely, it can also be helpful for anyone taking in-person lessons as it is always FREE to switch your in-person lesson to online should the need arise! Just send us a text or an email to request the switch and we'd be happy to arrange that for you!

Lately, some students have been having issues with Zoom's audio cutting out or in some cases, muting the instrument completely! This is because Zoom was primarily designed to be a meeting software, so it searches for voices and tries to muffle out any other sound that it determines to be "background noise."

Here are a couple tips to troubleshoot these situations:

1. If you're using a phone, try switching to a laptop or a tablet, if you have access to one. We've noticed phones, particularly iPhones, are the root of many of these problems. If you must use an iPhone, here is a setting change you can make that may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U577ClnRosE

2. Enable Original Sound and High Fidelity Music Mode. Check out this video to see how to do this on your device: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEZMRtrSsYY
